Mugsy – Paradigm Shift
Apr 5th
Brooklyn reppin Mugsy sent me over this new tape a little while and I’m disappointed that I’m just now getting around to listening to it. The reason I say this is because this tape is tight. Mugsy has a hard Brooklyn style which I dig, but the thing that sets him apart is his use of some more relaxed beats. “The Realness” is one of my favorite songs on the tape and has a nice feature from Damien Rivera, along with a smooth style. Make sure to download Paradigm Shift and give it a listen. I bet you’ll like it.
Jeph – Pre.Para
Mar 16th
I haven’t heard anything like Jeph, ever. His new mixtape, Pre.Para is truly original. In the opening seconds of the song I couldn’t say I liked it too much, the sound was so new that it was hard to adjust to. After getting deeper in to the song I realized that my first judgement it wrong. Once you get through to the unique core of the music you realize that Jeph is breaking the barriers of modern day hip hop and doing it successfully. He has kind of a Tech N9ne type feel to his music, which I really like. I highly suggest you check out this mixtape especially if you are looking for something new.
RockzSolid – For the Love
Feb 27th
RockzSolid is one of the few women fighting to make it in the very mail dominated world of hip hop. She offers a new dynamic to the poppy sounds of Nicki Minaj that many people have grown to associate with female hip hop. Her beats are very basic but catchy, contributing to a rhythm that keeps your head bobbing. If you’re in to female rappers you need to check this girl out. Take a listen to Solid Black one of my favorite tracks off of the For the Love Mixtape.
Rockie Fresh – Driving 88
Jan 28th
New mixtape from one of the hottest new rappers on the scene. This guy hasn’t done a lot of mixtape work but he has proven to be one of the hottest artists of 2012. As a candidate for XXL’s Freshman 2012 class, people are taking note of this guy. Just listen to this mixtape for yourself and you’ll understand that this guy is going to be at the top of his class. Also check out Tayyib Ali’s new track Shit I Know featuring a verse from Rockie. This has been at the top of my playlist over the last week.
Kunta Kente – Perspective Vol 1 2 Broke 2 Care
Jan 16th
New Mixtape from my man Kunta Kente.
This tape has some solid rhymes and nice flow. The production is solid too as seen in tracks like “I Apoligize” and “Dear God.” There’s a lot of nice samples that a variety of sound to the mixtape. The mix of club tracks and chill tracks add to a really nice overall feel of the mixtape. Check this mixtape out and give it a listen. This is some quality stuff.
Bezz Believe – Live From Niagara Falls
Dec 27th
It’s not often that I get mixtapes emailed to me that are as good as Bezz Believe’s Live From Niagara Falls. The Florida MC has a flow that just goes and goes with endless witty lines. The mixtapes includes a lot of solid production that fits really well with Bezz Believe’s style. When I first watched this guys video Rhythm of the Knight (below), I liked the Paul Wall vibe he had but he has something extra. Despite having that street edge to him, Bezz Believe also has a lot of fun with his rhymes, which you can hear through every track. It felt a little like one of my favorite new rappers, Mike Stud. This combination of Paul Wall and Mike Stud is crazy original, you have to check it out for yourself. Also watch the video below!

T.I. – F*ck Da City Up
Dec 25th
As part of T.I.’s return to fame he is launching a highly anticipated mixtape on the first of the year. If TIP is serious about his like I know he is this mixtape won’t disappoint. With a busy life since he has been released from jail, T.I. even has his own reality show on VH1. This guy his not planing on making a small impression. Judging that Dr. Dre is in the promo video for the mixtape I expect to hear production that is no less than perfect. Watch the promo video below and download the mixtape as soon as it is released.

French Montana, Juicy J & Project Pat – Cocaine Mafia
Dec 19th
I had to put this mixtape up because I know it is going to be the hottest in the streets. When three artsists like this get together it’s a guarantee to be a hit. As expected Cocaine Mafia is raw. It has that classic Juicy J production style that is super catchy. Since the mixtape just came out I’ve only listened to a few tracks but so far what I hear is just as good as expected. I haven’t listened to any French Montana in a while and I must admit I forgot how sick he was. He has this catchy style that is unlike anything I’ve heard listen and download below!
Nipsey Hussle – The Marathon Continues
Dec 7th
I know this mixtape is a little old but I had to put it on the site because it’s so good. If any mixtape is comparable to an album it has to be this one. There’s a few collabs and production that’s super impressive. Make sure you listen to Who Detatched Us, Run a Lap, Tommy Gunz, They Know and the Mansion. I guarantee, one hundred percent that you will like each of those songs, they are simply that good. All I can say is listen to this mixtape! Whether you’re going to the gym, doing a little studying or just relaxing press the play button on the Marathon Continues and enjoy.
